Project Stakeholder Identification, Assessment and Management
Tele-Seminar / Webinar Training Series
Background:
A critical aspect of leading successful projects is the ability to successfully identify assesses and manage stakeholders*. It is vitally important for project managers to recognize that partners / stakeholders have varying degrees of authority, and their expectations and levels of influence differ as well.
*Stakeholder- Person or organization (e.g. customer, sponsor, performing organization or the public) that is actively involved in the project, or whose interests may be positively or negatively affected by the implementation or completion of a project
Description
Most organizations do not manage their stakeholders well because they have not clearly identified who the stakeholders are and what their needs, wants and expectations are. As a result, the (+/-) power of the stakeholders is often underestimated and/or not leveraged to its fullest extent. The Project Manager and the project team must understand the overall stakeholder community and determine the optimum level of effort / response to allocate to each stakeholder. While many experienced teams seem to do this intuitively, applying a proven stakeholder management methodology will clearly articulate the scope* and effort required to successfully meet the projects outcomes and also meet the needs wants and expectations of the stakeholders. .
*Scope- The sum of the products services, and results to be provided as a project.
